Daniel Wellington Men’s 0207DW St. Mawes Watch Review

Daniel Wellington Men's 0207DW St. Mawes Watch Review

Do you want to make the right impression at a job interview? Do you want to project a serious look without overdoing it? Are you looking to be taken seriously? Would you like to project a calm, focused, yet a sophisticatedly understated form of confidence? Is your budget kind of on the low end?

If you answered YES to all of the above, then you need to take a long hard look at the Daniel Wellington 0207DW St. Mawes watch. This timepiece has the capability to project the right mix of understated strength, calm confidence, and solid class of more expensive watches without the off-putting pricing. The 0207DW highlights the distinct value the “DW” brand brings to the table: classic styling, sophistication, practicality, versatility, and affordability.

0207DW Typical Fashion

With its comfortable, classically designed brown leather strap, the fixed bezel of stainless steel, and the classic combination of an analog minute and hour hands, the Daniel Wellington Men’s 0207DW St. Mawes Watch provides a solid rendition of the classic men’s dress watch. Please understand that this timepiece’s design won’t make people’s heads turn when you enter a room. That’s not its job. Its job is to help you project a classy, sophisticated and quietly confident demeanor.

Since there are so many social settings where a little bit of quiet class and sophistication are required, it is no surprise that this watch is so practical. You can pretty much wear it for almost any solemn, formal, casual, semi-casual occasion without feeling that you are going out on a limb. This watch’s design highlights the power of proper accessorization: it helps make what you’re wearing look better and never hogs the spotlight on its own. This is no small feat considering the number of ‘over the top’ men’s dress watch designs out there.

Quartz With Batteries

Now comes the bad news. If you got excited about the mix of features brought to the table by the 0207DW as described above, you should rightfully be excited. When it comes to projecting total value, you can’t go wrong with this model. However, it is able to deliver such a solid value because there is one area where it cuts back on: its movement.

Anyone who’s owned watches knows that the type of movement a watch has will impact the watch’s pricing tremendously. While there have been some notable exceptions in the past, when it comes to the Daniel Wellington St. Mawes watch, this is definitely the case. Most importantly, not only does Daniel Wellington cut down on pricing by using a quartz movement, it requires batteries. If convenience is extremely important to you, this might be a deal killer so please pay close attention to this feature.

Genuine Leather Strap

While I could make a big deal about the ‘special feature’ listed by Amazon regarding this watch-the fact that it is a Daniel Wellington piece-I believe the bigger coup is the fact that this unit sports a genuine leather strap. Considering its low price and its styling, the inclusion of real leather in its feature set is definitely something worth writing home about. Why? The manufacturer behind this watch makes it plainly clear that while Daniel Wellington is all about making classical men’s watch designs approachable and ‘more democratic’ in terms of pricing, it wouldn’t give up all classical style and value elements as it chases this worthwhile goal. It would have been so easy for the manufacturer to swap faux leather for real leather but it didn’t. This definitely earns them brownie points.

Asides from the idea of having to swap batteries, anyone looking for a semi-casual ‘go to’ watch should consider the Daniel Wellington 0207DW St. Mawes very closely. It isn’t for everyone but it definitely packs quite a bit of value in its small form factor.
