Seiko Women’s SUT090 Dress Solar Watch Review

Seiko Women's SUT090 Dress Solar Watch Review

Clocking in at a very reasonable price, this women’s watch has a lot going for it. Of all the value it brings to the table, however, the runaway best value is its brand, it is a Seiko watch. Anyone paying attention to the global timepiece market during the past 50 years knows what that means. Seiko is all about quality, accessibility, and value for money. I am happy to report that the Seiko Women’s SUT090 Dress Solar Watch doesn’t disappoint on all these counts.

Classic women’s watch design

In terms of sensibility, this watch actually plays it safe. It has all the predictable touches of class and elegance you’d expect from a watch in its design category. It has hints of class. It has touches of sophistication. However, unlike other watches from other brands, this Seiko model is able to piece together these differing design elements into a cohesive whole that does justice to the SUT090 crown viewwhole idea of an affordable elegant watch.

I’ve got to admit that when I saw the Swarovski crystals in the description of this watch, I was a bit skeptical. After all, how many times have you seen crystal-decked designer watches that made you say ‘meh’? Well, all my initial hesitation and outright skepticism were deftly done away with by this Seiko watch. The Seiko SUT090 Dress Solar Watch is a well put together unit. It doesn’t look clunky and the crystals fit just right in with the solar component of this timepiece. Well played! I was expecting some rough or at the very least awkward spots but I was pleasantly surprised.

SUT090 Japanese quartz

What makes this watch work is that it uses the classical design elements of your typical female dress watch and decks it out with a bit of class (crystals) and technology (solar) while packing it in the value format of an accessible watch. I wish I could say that this type of feat is easily attained by other brands on the global timepiece market. Unfortunately, if I was to make that claim, I would be flat out lying to you. The reason this combination of features works for the SUT090 lies primarily in the fact that this is a Seiko watch.

Seiko is no stranger to pulling off the seemingly impossible task of packing a hint of luxury, lots of practicality, and cost accessibility into one very attractive package. Seiko has been pulling this hat trick for decades now. And thanks to the cost-squashing yet quality-boosting features of the Japanese quartz movement powering this timepiece, the SUTO090 is able to deliver at just the right price range.

A Few Features

Now, now, you might be asking yourself: why would a semi-luxury watch with a lot of classy touches obviously designed for the indoors need water resistance? Great question. As you probablybracelet and clasp know, even the most indoor watch will be subjected to indoor conditions that involve water. Maybe you’re cooking something on the way out the door in the morning. Maybe you’re in a rush and dashed into the bathroom to wash your hands oblivious to the fact that you’re wearing a dress watch. Whatever the case may be, moisture will be a threat to your watch.

Now, some other brand name design watches with the philosophy that the intended market for their watches have a clear idea between indoor and outdoor use. Some obviously were designed with the assumption that the wearers of their watches will avoid water altogether. Seiko is more realistic. To guard against moisture threats, it has engineered a decent 33 meter water resistance special feature to this timepiece. Good call!

Great value for an everyday watch

If you’re looking for a watch that can be your ‘go to’ watch for an event that requires a hint of sophistication and class, the Seiko Women’s SUT090 Dress Solar Watch is for you. It is very practical and it mixes and matches with quite a wide range of apparel styles. It will fit a wide range of casual and formal social occasions.
