Invicta has a well-established reputation for producing quality men’s watches, and the Specialty 15608 does not disappoint. Created out of sleek stainless-steel, the watch comes in an elegant black hue that gives off an air of understated style that can be paired equally with a business suit or a casual shirt and rolled-up sleeves. If you´re looking for a watch with a style that can take you from work to play, then the Invicta Men’s Specialty 15608 Watch may be for you.
Specialty Technicalities
On the technical front, the 15608 Specialty offers everything we´ve come to expect from a mid-priced men’s watch. Although made in Japan, the watch uses a Swiss-style quartz mechanism, akin to those used in much higher-priced models (think Tag Heuer,) so you´ll never be a second out. It also has a chronograph function which is, as usual, found in three smaller dials implanted in the main dial, used respectively to time 1 second, 60 seconds, and 24 hours, and is operated by easy-to-use buttons on the side. Like many modern men’s watches, it is waterproof to 100m, so perfect for casual pool dates or for when you grab a quick shower at the gym.
The case is 45mm, leaving the dial easy to read, although the color-scheme lets us down somewhat: the hands of the main dial are white, the same color as the markings of the smaller second, minute and 24-hour sub-dials. This is not a problem for the average man, but for those with difficulty of sight, it’s worth asking to have a look in-store or online before you buy. This Invicta doesn’t have the clearest watch display on the market, and ease of reading has been sacrificed slightly for the style. For the average man, however, the sleek combination of black, white and grey is subtle but readable and looks a lot better with a smart suit than some of the more colorful alternatives on the market.
Invicta Wearability
Finally, we come to the real test: wearability. The Specialty 15608 comes with a diver buckle, which is great for long-lasting use, but gentlemen with larger or smaller wrists than average should be aware that the watch strap comes in at 225mm and that any adjustments would require a chain link to be added or removed. This can easily be done at a regular store, but it´s something to be aware of when buying online. This feature is typical of most mid and upper-range men’s watches though, and when fitted correctly the stainless-steel strap promises to endure many scrapes without degrading and looking used, which is a positive in our books. Stainless steel also feels good against the skin, and the watch feels very comfortable on the wrist.
Should You Get it?
Don’t mistake the under-stated Invicta Specialty 15608 Watch for boring: the watch face is shinier than the pictures suggest, and the color choice leaves it looking more timeless than some alternatives: great if you want a watch that will keep its cache for years. Overall, it´s a solid buy if you want a durable, stylish watch for a medium-range price.
