AVI-8 FLYBOY AV-BRADLEY-01 Watch Review

AVI-8 FLYBOY AV-BRADLEY-01 Watch Review

AVI-8 have teamed up with Bradley Mountain, an outdoor lifestyle brand, to create this elegant Flyboy Bradley Mountain timepiece. This beautiful watch is a limited edition piece that is only available to the first 100 people who purchase it, which means you will be one of only 100 owners if you buy this watch.

The AV-BRADLEY-01 comes with a customized rotor and has also been given a fully luminous dial, to ensure that the wearer can continue using this watch regardless of whether it is daytime or night time.

Full dial lume

The Lume is absolutely outstanding and can even be seen when it’s dusk or semi light outside. Although one draw back for me was the date window not being visible despite everything else on the dial being legible in all lighting conditions.

Slim small case

The watch comes with a great water resistance 5ATM feature to allow the wearer to use the watch up to depths of 50 metres in water without causing any damage or harm to the watch and its usability. This light watch only weighs 90g and is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors and is ready for some adventure.

Design – Movement & Size

This Flyboy watch comes with a Japanese Miyota automatic movement that has 21 jewels, which is known to be reliable and accurate. This model is a very good size at 43mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, one of the smallest wearing pieces that AVI-8 currently has in production. The case shape is round with a band width of 22mm. Thanks to its lovely size, this watch would suit most people from smaller to larger wrists.

The off-white dial features the numbers 0 at 12 o’clock, 3 at 3 o’clock and 9 at the 9 o’clock positions, for three of the quarter hourly markers. The rest of the hour, minute and second markers around the edge of the inner dial are marked with black dots, with the large dots marking every five minutes.

The dial also features a single day window which is located at the centre bottom, as well as three hands for the hour, minute and second.

Style and Wearability

This AVI-8 watch model comes in a wonderful earthy color – both the case and leather band match each other in a stunning brass and brown color. The leather band has been made out of vegetable tanned leather and is custom oiled brown to give the watch it’s wonderful, earthy look. The buckle on the leather band is a solid stainless steel buckle that has been given an ionic brass plating, just like the case.

All three of the hands (hour, minute and second) fit perfectly with the color theme of the watch by being a gold shade. In addition, the dial color is Super-LumiNova-C3, and the case color is stainless steel with a wonderful ionic brass plating. The crystal is of course Sapphire, which is highly sought after due to its excellent scratch resistance and durability over time.

To finish off this look by bringing all of the shades and colors together, the hour, minute and seconds hands all are gold in color, which just adds to the brilliant earthy colors of this watch.

Comfort

For me personally the Bradley Mountain is one of AVI-8’s most comfortable watches to wear for long periods of time. Despite it’s 43mm case size which is still larger than average for most brands, the watch tends to sit very well on the wrist due to the short lugs and slim profile.

I would highly recommend this watch to anyone who is looking for a classy looking Aviation inspired timepiece for a smaller wrist.

Conclusion

This brilliant collaboration where AVI-8 meets Bradley Mountain certainly does not disappoint in terms of style or performance. While AVI-8 are known for their aviation style timepieces this excellent team work between the two brands offers watch enthusiasts a watch that has been stripped back for a much more minimalist appearance, something that those who are great lovers of the outdoors and adventure will love.

This watch has certainly been well made and anyone who is lucky enough to purchase this watch will be pleased that the appearance is stunning and does not cost a fortune. The AV-BRADLEY-01 would be perfect for your every day, casual wear as well as for being outdoors and on adventures.
