Muhle Glashutte has a very rich heritage. They are a German brand which has a large connection with the automotive industry as well as the watercraft industry. The watchmaking part of the company was founded by Robert Mühle in 1869 and has been running ever since. They are known for making instruments for watercraft manufacturers, as well as speedometers and rev counters.
The Teutonia Sport 2 is a stunning piece based after various sports cars. The piece has a 41mm diameter and a 12.8mm height. This watch is definitely on the smaller side. It looks much smaller in diameter on the wrist then it is. The piece has a stainless steel brushed case with a polished bezel and case back. The bezel and case back are extended over the case which gives it the appearance of a piston. The bezel is non-rotating, and has hash marks at every three hours. These hashes are colored black at 3-9 o’clock and red at 12 o’clock. The bezel has a domed, double anti-glaring sapphire crystal.
There are 3 parts to the dial. These are the center piece which is black. A large ring going around the center that is grey. This ring has applied indices. The outer ring has all the minutes in numerals. The black dial includes a 60 second sub dial. This sub dial is located next to 9 o’clock and is grey. The date is on the right side next too 3 o’clock. This date mechanism is very interesting because it shows 3 dates. These are the current day, yesterday and the next day. The larger dial has two indices at 12, 3, 6, and 9 oclock and one index at the rest of the hours. All of these indices are coated in super LumiNova. The Lumi Nova on this watch is very good. It can charge up very quickly and hold its lumen for a very long time. The last part of the dial as stated above has numerals every 5 minutes and indices the rest of the time.
The lugs on this piece are 20mm. They are screwed strap attachment bridges.
The watch has an exhibition case back with a sapphire crystal. One the case back you will find where the piece is made, company, reference number and water resistance. The watch sits very well on the wrist due to the flat case back and the curved lugs. I have had no problem with the watch rotating on my wrist or it being uncomfortable.
This piece has a Sellita SW 290-1 Muhle automatic movement with woodpecker neck regulation. This is a great movement. It maintains time very accurately. I find it gains or loses less than 10 seconds daily. The movement is very smooth and subtle.
The watch has a custom Muhle rotor which is stainless steel. Besides being self-winding the piece also has manual winding. The movement also features fast date correction, Stop-second which is also known as hacking or pulling out the crown to stop the second hand from ticking. The watch also has a 38-hour power reserve, which unfortunately is not very long compared to other watches in this class of watches.
The strap on this piece is one of the best straps I have ever seen. It is a red rubber strap with a nylon covering. The rubber is cut in many places, and resembles the tread of a tire. This is used to allow maximum movement and bending of the strap. The strap is perforated to allow the air to flow through the strap to keep you from sweating. There are 8 holes for adjustability, which doesn’t seem like much but they are spaced far apart which allows the strap to be worn on a large variety of wrists. The strap has two loops and is waterproof with an engraved stainless-steel pin buckle. This is one of the best, most comfortable and durable straps I have ever worn on a watch.
If you are looking for watch from a company that has a long following and rich heritage look no further. The Teutonia sport II is an amazing piece. It Resembles a piston in a car as well as the gauges you would find inside. They use a variety of contrasting colors and textures that when blended together make a very appealing and attractive design. The watch is a high-quality timepiece, built with great craftsmanship. When you are buying this watch you not only get a great design, you also get its rich heritage, wear ability and comfort. As mentioned the strap is extremely comfortable as is the case. The selitas movement is smooth and very accurate. This watch is priced reasonably for the value received and truly cannot be beat.
