Victorinox 241653 Classic Stainless Steel Watch Review

Victorinox 241653 Classic Stainless Steel Watch Review

Classy. Utilitarian. Bold. Daring. These are just some of the words that instantly come to mind when a watch fan, whether a newbie or a veteran checks out the Victorinox 241653 Classic Stainless Steel watch for the first time. To say that this timepiece has something for everyone would be an understatement. Sporting the imprint of one of the most trusted name in Swiss watchmaking, this awesome piece of wrist technology definitely brings a lot of value to the table.

Classic Dress Watch

Most people would find the word ‘utilitarian’ ill-fitting for a Victorinox watch. In their minds, given the amount of cash one has to shell out for this timepiece, the last thing they would want is a watch that is simply utilitarian. And that’s the beauty of this timepiece. It is both utilitarian and classy. Now, don’t get me wrong. In the context of this timepiece, I define utilitarian in a distinctly fixed way-it is useful because it fits so many contexts.

Whether you are trying to impress a prospective employer or you are giving a presentation on a white-paper or you’re having drinks with an old friend from high school, this watch is very useful in a wide range of settings. Why not just use the word ‘versatile’? Well, mere versatility doesn’t do the 241653 Classic Stainless Steel watch much justice. It is very useful in a wide range of social settings because it knocks the ball right out of the park in terms of gravitas, first impressions, and overall accessorization power.

241653 Movement Type

Considering that this watch is a Victorinox watch and fetches a price only slightly north of the $300 mark, it should be no surprise to fans of global timepiece brands that this model is a quartz watch. Simply put, quarts has brought to earth the pricing of many otherwise unattainable timepiece models. Thanks to quartz movement technology, watch fans can stop dreaming of getting their hands on exclusive brands and pedigreed timepiece models and start whipping out their credit cards.

With that said, quartz technology also has many quality levels.

At the lowest level of quartz, movement technology are ‘no name’ generic quartz movements. You simply are rolling the dice with such contraptions. It’s anyone’s guess when your watch’s time movement will give out. Thankfully, you can gain quite a bit of quality assurance regarding the quartz-powered timepiece you buy if you simply insist on Swiss quartz technology. This movement technology is truly the best of both worlds. You get the affordability of quartz and the precision (and resulting peace of mind) of Swiss craftsmanship. What’s not to love? I am happy to report that the Victorinox 241653 Classic Stainless Steel is proudly powered by Swiss quartz technology.

300 feet water resistance

Given the way the Victorinox 241653 looks, it would be ridiculous indeed to expect its wearers to wear it while wakeboarding or engaging in all sorts of marine or water sports. With that said, the moisture resistance of this model is a welcome feature indeed. You see, moisture contact is always a danger with watches. You just don’t know when you’ll come into contact with water. Maybe you might splash water on your hands unexpectedly. Maybe you might find yourself in an unexpected downpour. Regardless of the form it takes, water contact is an ever present danger for watch designs that don’t have any kind of moisture resistance whatsoever.

In light of the threat moisture poses to the proper operation of watches’ internal mechanisms, this model’s water resistance to a depth of 300 feet is definitely a welcome feature. At the very least, getting wet while wearing this timepiece can be safely handled as an afterthought. Just like auto insurance, having moisture protection to a depth of 100 meters is a welcome touch that brings much-needed peace of mind to its wearers.

Excellent versatile value

Value can be measured in many ways. We can focus on the wide range of features a timepiece brings to the table. We can look at the pedigree of its brand. We can look at its engineering. What makes the Victorinox Men’s 241653 Classic Stainless Steel Watch a solid value is its attention to detail, context versatility, and extra features like water resistance. Overall, a solid value.
