Farer Resolute Three Hands 36mm Watch Review

Ah Farer. A brand I’ve heard so much about – but just never had the opportunity to see in person for quite some time. After over 677 watch reviews on the WRB I’m happy to finally get hands on with one.

Today we have here a new release of theirs, it’s called the Resolute, this one coming in at 36mm. They’ve made the Resolute in a larger size for a while now which comes in at a 39.5mm case size.

Design Language

This is a very clean and crisp looking watch, as a simple three hander it’s nothing fancy, but the basic details are done with taste and the dial really pops with bursts of colour – mind you the details are done masterfully. The generic website images of this watch don’t really do it justice, this is the type of watch you really need in hand to admire the detailing of the dial, and general fit and finish of the metal work on the case, bezel, lugs and crown.

Back to the dial – where the indices appear painted on in some images of this watch, they’re actually applied – and this gives the dial a gorgeous three dimension look when handled in person. Even looking straight onto the dial you can notice that the Arabic numerals are raised considerably.

The indices have a very light pastel moss green outline which is actually the luminescent material, and the hands are also filled in with the same material – and then very obviously is the siren orange seconds hand. These colour combinations against the matt white background produce a very playful pastel coloured vibe which is exactly what Farer is aiming to do. It’s a very serious, high quality, and well put together watch with a touch of playfulness. This is probably the sentence I’d use if I had to sum up this watch.

Fit and Movement

Before we jump into the movement of the Resolute 36mm, I just wanted to touch on the sizing. I’ll say outright that I find this watch too small for a 36mm, it fits smaller than my 34mm Rolex Air-King. Watch sizing is not all about case size, and this is a classic example. The resolute 36mm has an excellent dial size, but the lugs are way too short, with a total lug to lug span of 41.2mm.

Flipping the watch over reveals a rather handsome Swiss automatic movement, it’s a “La Joux-Perret G101” with a sonage finish. It sports 24 Jewels and a generous 68 hours of power reserve.

I will say that I’m rather impressed with the look of this movement, it appears to be quite compact and slim to fit inside the 10.4mm thick watch case – and is also somewhat decorated.

This is a very impressive watch, and if you’re after something with a British flair and Swiss made quality I highly recommend you check out the rest of the Farer line.

    Matt,

Are you wearing a Farer leather strap and if yes, which color? Gull Grey Granolo? Octane Petrol Granolo?

    Thanks for your help.

    Jeff
