Tissot Heritage Visodate TIST0194301603101 Watch Review

Tissot Heritage Visodate TIST0194301603101 Watch Review

Here at the Watch Review Blog we understand just how difficult and troubling it can actually be to find a versatile watch that can easily be used as both a day-to-day watch, and a dress watch. Luckily, due to the incredibly classical design of the Tissot Men’s Visodate TIST0194301603101 Heritage Watch, it can easily be either dressed up or dressed down to match a multitude of occasions.

This classical nature that the watch exerts comes directly from the aesthetical appearance of the watch, which is entirely monochrome at just a glance. It does have a slight hint of colour hidden away for the right consumer to find.

Visodate Classic Design & Style

The Tissot Heritage Visodate watch measures in at a grand 40mm in diameter, so it is worth noting that this particular watch is actually quite large compared to most classic dress style watches. Although, in our opinion, it would be suitable for the majority of wrist sizes, it would just stand out a lot on slimmer wrists. Every stainless steel feature of this watch is polished to a shine, including the full stainless steel case and the long, slimming lugs.

There is no brushed stainless steel on this particular piece to create a contrast, and we believe that the lack of brushed steel actually adds a lot to the aesthetical appeal of this classical watch. This is because the look of a highly polished watch has the ability to draw attention, and due to the durability of this particular product it should stay shining for years to come.

The durability of the Visodate is worth noticing. Tissot have an extensive history of working within sporting environments, and they understand just how important it is for every product that they produce and manufacture to be highly durable. You do not want a watch that could easily be scratched while you are out cycling with it, and the durability that they were famed for creating within sporting environments has continued. Due to that, this product features a highly durable and scratch-resistant Sapphire crystal which has been coated with an anti-reflective coating. That coating ensures that you can read your watch even on the brightest of days.

The Sapphire crystal itself also directly affects the aesthetical appeal of the watch as a whole which the crystal of a watch alone rarely has the ability to do. The edge of the case is almost vertical in appearance, and the Sapphire crystal makes the watch appear to be curved opposed to following that vertical pattern, adding a slightly curved appearance to an otherwise opposite piece. The domed crystal also highly compliments the classical appearance of the dial, and the sharply angled domed crystal looks as though it is framing the dial directly. Lifting it right out of the base of the watch to catch your eye.

It is safe to say that the dial of this watch has been perfectly planned to match and compliment the overall appearance of the case. It’s not white, but it is rather an incredibly soft grey. This colour scheme gives the dial of the watch a timeless appearance from the 1950’s, and the soft grey has been paired with a set of gunmetal-grey dauphine hands and hour markers. These markers perfectly match the classic Tissot logo, and stand out among the smooth grey dial of the watch. This look of the gunmetal-grey against the smooth grey face makes the markers stand out a lot.

Our favourite feature of this particular Tissot watch can actually be found by simply turning the watch around and looking at the back of the case. There is an exhibition case on the back of the Visodate, which allows you to view the beautiful gears whilst they are actually in motion. Here is where you will find the dash of colour that lightens the colour scheme of the watch up, in the form of a single golden-yellow rotor that swings freely in the back of the watch. It has been finely-grooved and decorated to draw your attention.

Features & Movement

It is worth noting that this particular watch is only actually registered as waterproof up to a total of 30m, this means that it can only really cope with light rain and small splashes. You should never wear it while you are in either the bath or the shower, as it simply is not worth the risk.

The Tissot Men’s Heritage Visodate watch uses a form of movement that is called ETA Caliber 2836-2, which is known to be excellent and highly reliable. It usually will only either speed up or slow down by several seconds a day. There is an estimated power reserve within this watch that lasts up to 40 hours, and the watch itself can actually be manually wound.

We love the fact that the crown on this particular Tissot watch is actually incredibly easy to use in comparison with other Tissot models. Position 2 directly adjusts the day and the date, while position 3 directly adjusts the time. The crown also produces a satisfying clicking sound, so you know that you have used it correctly.

The classical and timeless appearance of this watch also benefits from the addition of a highly sought after crocodile-grain leather strap, a strap that has a timeless appeal of its own to offer to the average consumer. The strap closes with an engraved deployment clasp, a durable clasp which will easily keep the watch secure to your wrist. You will not have to worry about it falling off!

Conclusion

In our opinion, Tissot have an incredible ability to manufacture watches that appear to be rather simple, but they have a number of small details that make them stand out. These small details show the real level of craftsmanship that goes into each individual watch, and on the Tissot Men’s Heritage Visodate Timepiece you can see the Tissot ‘T’ which has been directly embossed onto the crown of the watch.

You would expect a watch of this calibre to be rather expensive, and yet it is actually incredibly affordable. This affordability is rather odd, as the watch has been made out of high-quality materials, and it proves itself to be an excellent example of Swiss watchmaking. This definitely is not something that anyone should be complaining about, as the watch is a really elegant piece, yet it doesn’t show off as some elegant watches do.

You mention that this watch has an anti-reflective coating. I don’t think that is correct. It is not listed in any of the specifications and most reviewers complain about the amount of glare and how the watch is sometimes difficult to read, particularly the black-dial model.

I agree…no anti-reflective coating. You just have to take a look at a black dial version of this watch and it is painfully obvious, hence the white dial is the better choice.
