Konifer Sequoia Maple Wood Watch Review

Konifer Sequoia Maple Wood Watch Review

The Konifer Sequoia Maple Wood Watch is a fantastic example of how both style and nature can blend together to create a product that is completely unique and beautiful. Unlike the majority of metallic watches that can be found on the market, this particular watch is made almost entirely out of a natural blonde maple. The only features of this watch that are not made out of wood are the small metal accents that are well paired with the colour of the wood as a whole.

The idea for this special, specific line of watches was formed generations ago when the founder of Konifer first found his passion for both wood and the great outdoors. They started producing this line of watches back in 2013, and it has continued to grow since then.

This organic, classy look comes perfectly shaped in a 100% handmade watch. The type of watch that you would expect to see on the wrist of a lumberjack, specifically one that happens to have a keen eye for style. As well as a want to keep up with the fashion trends that shape the world around us, as the watch is a statement piece due not only to its aesthetical appearance, but also to its size.

Sequoia Design & Comfort

It is worth noting that the structure of this watch is actually incredibly large, and it does stand out a lot on the majority of wrist sizes. The face of the watch alone is 50mm in diameter, and lug to lug this watch measures to be a whopping 60mm. Be careful not to let the size of this watch fool you, as it is actually incredibly lightweight!

This watch weighs approximately 45 grams, and it is not the type of watch that would leave you with an aching wrist like a stainless steel watch of the same size probably would! You should be aware that if you are the type of person that likes a good wrist to watch ratio, then this specific watch probably is not the right watch for you!

The lightweight nature of this watch actually comes directly from both the material and the design of the watch. Maple is known to be a hard and yet lightweight species of wood, and as a design material maple is regarded to be one of the most durable types of wood available on the market. The maple itself has been used throughout the product, as everything apart from the clasp, crown, angles of the bezel and features of the dial are completely made out of wood.

It is rather difficult to tell just how durable the Konifer Sequoia Maple Wood watch actually is, as the material of the crystal itself is completely unspecified. This makes it rather difficult to tell just how scratch resistant the crystal of the watch actually is, although we have found that it performs excellently with a little bit of field testing!

Features

One of our favourite features of this watch actually comes in the form of all of the small details of craftsmanship that Konifer have ensured it has. The crown itself has a beautiful, engraved image in the form of the nature-infused Konifer logo. The Konifer logo can also be found on the clasp of the watch, and at the 12 o’clock point of the dial! To even out the appearance of the dial there is also a small maple leaf at the 6 o’clock point. Konifer really do have a talent for paying attention to the smaller details that can really turn a simple watch into a classy watch that is worth admiring.

One of the only features of this particular watch that we are not too sure about is the size of the date window. It is that far into the watch that it has to be incredibly small, and the numbers almost appear to be squashed to fit inside of it. The date window really has been designed to take up as little space as possible, but it could be slightly larger if it was closer to the edge of the dial.

Both the hour and minute hands do contain a small amount of lume! So you will not have to worry about being unable to tell the time in dimly lit areas. Don’t expect to be able to tell the time if it is too dark, as the actual hands of the watch are incredibly slim, so the lume itself is not too bright.

Last Words

One thing that we feel that every consumer should be aware of is the fact that while this particular watch was designed in Canada, it was made in China. That means that the long term quality of the watch could be questionable, and with the unspecified material of the crystal it is difficult to tell how durable the product will actually be. One thing that we noticed that does give us that opinion is that the second hand does not always line up with the indices.

If you want a stylish watch that is guaranteed to stand out from the crowd then you should look no further, as it would be hard for this watch not to stand out. It is also environmentally friendly, as Konifer guarantee that a tree will be planted every time one of their products is purchased.

No grain of any species of wood is ever the same, and no two Konifer Sequoia Maple Wood watches will ever have the same appearance. Not only do you get to experience class and style, but you also get a one of a kind watch to call your own.
